Things we're getting used to...

Top things we're getting used to in our new home:

  • HOT mid-days and VERY brisk nights
  • Random people evangelizing (very loudly) in the park at any point in the day.
  • Small, adorable, dirty children who tug at your hearts but will steal anything they can get their hands on.
  • People wondering why in the world we left our comfortable life in the States to be here.
  • Not having cheese and peanut butter.
  • Everything taking a LOT longer... but no one really worrying about it much.
  • Really cheap fruit!
  • People singing and laughing at the top of their lungs at 3 in the morning outside our window.
  • A house without washcloths and a teeny refrigerator, but with a television in every room.
  • People who love to talk to us and pat our children on the heads.
  • Public transportation. It's an adventure but it's really fun!
  • Walking to the grocery store, the park, the office supply store, the ice cream shop, the bank....
  • Greeting people with a kiss on the cheek.
  • Avoiding near-death situations every time we get to an intersection. (A slight exaggeration.)
  • Nearly EVERY (not an exaggeration) passer-by saying, "Que linda!" about our girls. (How cute!)
  • Taxi drivers just shaking their heads and driving off because they don't understand us.
  • Grocery stores that have employees giving samples of EVERYTHING on Saturday... including beer and sardines.
  • Bodegas (tiny little corner stores that sell everything you could ever want from milk to toilet paper to eggs to fruit and vegetables.)
  • The conversation with mere strangers quickly turning to religion... and having amazing open doors to share our faith!

It's been 6 weeks of an incredible adventure... and we can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for us next!
